Deaf Ministry
To serve our deaf members as well as reach out to the deaf community, we employ an American Sign Language interpreter for our Sunday worship service. We are pleased to have a highly capable interpreter to help the deaf and hearing impaired get as much as possible out of the proclamation of the Word of God, sacraments, liturgy, sermon, prayers, and hymns.
A 2008 graduate of Southwestern Illinois College with a degree in Sign Language Studies, Brandi is certified as a Comprehensive level interpreter. She is licensed in Missouri and Illinois. She holds an advanced score on the educational interpreting assessment and has a Master level license in Illinois.
Brandi’s love of interpreting started in 1990 when a classmate’s older sister came to her class to teach basic signs for a required service project. Learning the alphabet, family signs, and the lyrics to Jingle Bell Rock planted the seed for the future in Brandi. Fourteen years later she was working as an accounting clerk for the government but not enjoying it. With encouragement from her husband, Brandi pursued her strong desire to obtain a degree in the field of interpreting.
Brandi works for St. Louis Community College and as a freelance interpreter serving the Metro St. Louis area.
